Kingdom of Nothing: Darkness Below

From DoctorCthulhupunk

My next game was Kingdom of Nothing: Darkness Below

  • GM: Brennan Taylor
  • Robert Dushay: Tunnel Rat
  • Me: Spooky Eyes
  • Kristie Morris: Teach
  • Joann Clarkr-Stein: Singin' Sally

The PCs are homeless people who live in a Gathering, which sounded to me like a Werewolf: The Apocalypse Caern, only scruffier. They're pretty broken people. The most interesting part of the game was the set up: The players all added to the background of each of the PCs so that one didn't know one's own PC's background, but did know a lot of the details of everyone else's PCs' background.

Out of Context Game Quotes (I think relative to Bob's PC):

You should let go of that _string_ now.

Rats ride in taxis these days? Can they _afford_ it?

Tell me about rats.

I think you already know plenty.

The actual game play was interesting, but I'm not sure whether the game as a whole works for me or not. The idea is that one is supposed to gradually piece together one's PC's background, and I'm not sure to what extent we were on track with that -- or to what degree it was a problem if we weren't. I suspect I can use some of the techniques of the game even if I don't use the game itself as written.
